I really like Conan and Ai, even if I know they won't be together ;/
I would love it if they were to get together (although, at this point, it's highly unlikely). Honestly, I think Shinichi/Conan and Shiho/Ai would make a much better couple than Shinichi and Ran. While Shinichi and Ran's love has not been shown to develop much, just become this angsty cheesy pure-love situation, Ai and Conan have gone through many stages and have kept us all hooked. Shinichi and Ran are pretty much endgame (unless Gosho decides he wants to become troll of the century), but, in my opinion, they wouldn't last. Shinichi is more mature than Ran, having gone through all the Black Organization drama, and having dealt with death and sorrow, while Ran has this naive persona around her. When she gets mad at him (which happens quite often), she refuses to listen to him and even resorts to her karate. Ran has known him for most of his life, and still she can't stand him going on cases. He wants to make a living out of this, and it would bring trouble to their relationship. It also looks as though she doesn't know him as well as he knows her. Take for instance that one case where she thought Shinichi was grooming a widow.

However, once you look at the partnership between Conan and Ai, things change. They trust each other, and are comfortable around the other, making their relationship more natural, and not as awkward as Shinichi and Ran's was when he confessed to her in London. They know pain, and struggles (although Conan's cannot compare to Haibara's), and understand people. They make a good team. There's some chemistry in their endless teasing, and Haibara clearly has feelings for him, but she's decided to hide them, as he would never return them, and she feels conflicted about Ran: sometimes, she's jealous of her; other times, she wants to protect her because of her similarities with her sister and how precious she's to Conan.

Overall, I'd say Haibara and Shinichi would make for a better, more interesting, stronger, even healthier relationship than Shinichi and Ran. And what makes a good relationship?

Understanding. Conan and Ai understand each other, while Ran does not and will not fully understand Shinichi.

Common interests. While Conan and Ai are very different, they also share some common interests: literature, history and trivia, basically. Also, he got her into football. They also have very similar, but at the same time very different personalities (their witty conversations show this often). What do we know both Ran and Shinichi have in common? Well, they've known each other for a very long time... and that's it. Haibara and Conan compliment each other nicely.

Teamwork. Haibara and Conan can work together perfectly well, shown often in the way they investigate. Ran always stands aside and watches as Shinichi does his work, and sometimes helps with her karate. But she's mostly useless during an investigation, and looks more like an admirer than a supporter.

Communication. Ai and Conan seem to never run out of things to debate over, and their teasing never ends. They're both able to keep their wits sharp by trying to outsmart the other. Ran doesn't possess a knowledge as wide as Shinichi does, and she usually can't keep up with him intellectually. She hates it whenever he speaks about Holmes (ALL the time), while Haibara listens and they have actual conversations. Shinichi and Ran seem to get mad at each other frequently, and ignore and/or insult the other. Ran even tries to hurt him with her karate (I know it's just for comedy, but that doesn't make it right). When Haibara and him argue, they talk about the problem instead of just ignoring it or each other. However, Haibara's pretty much been left in the blue in anything new regarding the BO, but I'll discuss that in the next paragraph.

And last, but not least: PLOT. We all know from the very beginning Ran and Shinichi are going to be endgame, making their relationship bland and uninteresting. Ran is also a very stereotypical girl, shaped to be a great wife to her great husband. However, Ai is a criminal, haunted by her dark past, and a neutral character in terms of morality (she's also a total badass). Shinichi/Conan falling for her would have been a great move. He would have to come to terms with it (falling for someone who he should consider as a criminal, even though it wasn't as if she could help it), and realize that things are not always black or white. He could "make it up" to her for not being able to save her sister. It would also help Ai immensely, with her mental health and relationship with the BO (Vermouth's hatred and Gin's fixation with her). They already make a great team, and they would become unstoppable. Their relationship would be extremely interesting. However, Haibara's been kind of left aside from the plot lately. I think when Gosho introduced Ai, he didn't realize he created a double-edge sword (does this expression exist or did I just make it up?). She instantly gained as many fans as Ran had gathered over the years. She was meant to become part of a love triangle, but many, MANY fans rooted for her and Conan, and that just couldn't happen. So, once her main arcs were completed, she slowly disappeared from the action, only making esporadical appearances unless her presence was required. All hints of her feelings have disappeared, and she's slowly starting to become a bit of a stereotypical tsundere. Mitsuhiko's crush on her is another attemp at making readers forget about a possible ConAi relationship (and, no. Just, no. It's basically paedophilia.). She doesn't appear in the manga as much as she used to, and when she does she mostly interacts with the kids. She's become a big danger to Ran and Shinichi's future, and Gosho won't let that happen.

So, I love ConAi. I do. Even though I know they won't become canon, and Haibara will probably stay as a kid. My headcanon is that Ran and Shinichi go out for a few months after the manga ends, realize they're better off as friends, and eventually Shinichi falls for Ai/Shiho.

So, yeah, I mostly survive on fanfiction now, even the sporadical new one that shows up every once in a while.

Give them a secret affair (NTR) pls

honestly agreed 100% on all points you made. i prefer CoAi over ShinRan always, for the same reasons you mentioned, i couldn't have said it any better.
i pray Gosho surprise us with a huge plot twist at the end or even ends the anime with ShinRan and all. then make a spin-off as a "what if..." and explores another ending to the anime or maybe make new episodes for ShinRan happily ever after days where they fall off and Shinichi goes for Shiho... that would be SICK.
